History

The International Orthopedic Rehabilitation Organization ( IORO) for isolated disabled people was founded in 2007 by its President and CEO president Alvin B. Thomas. The idea to create such a noble organization originated from his days as a little boy when he was introduced to the caring of disabled children and the making of prosthetic legs by Sister Mary Sponsa, a Catholic Nun who had been working in Alvin's home town and country, Harper Maryland County, Liberia, West Africa.

Sister Sponsa founded the Our Lady of Fatima Rehab Center in Harper Maryland County, Liberia where Alvin worked for more than thirteen years. alvin's news His first major work as an Orthopedic Technician was working with an isolated disabled boy name 'Little Moses' in San-Pedro, Ivory Coast, West Africa. Moses was born without left leg and was also missing some fingers. Alvin made Moses a prosthetic leg for the first time in Moses's life. Alvin's work with Little Moses was bestowed upon him (Alvin) the noble idea to work as an Orthopedic and Prosthetic Technician and the idea to create this organization so named

International Orthopedic Rehabilitation Organization for Isolated Disabled People.

The Organization has its head quarter in Minnesota, USA with field offices in Liberia, West Africa.

Alvin has an extensive resume when it comes to Orthotics and Prosthetic engineering. In 1995 he did a comprehensive training course at the Orthopedic Training Centre NSAWAM-Ghana West Africa. He completed refresher Theoretical and Practical Training courses for Transtibial and Transfermoral Prosthesis for Orthopedic Technician in 2002 with Handicap International Liberia at the John F. Kennedy(JFK) Hosptital.

Alvin is also a graduate of Century College in Prosthetic Technician Program and is currently studying at Metropolitan State University for his bachelors. He is a Member of Phi theta Kappa International Honor Society of two-year college Student, and member of the National Dean's List Honoring America's outstanding College Students. 29th Edition 2005-2006 Volume ll and 30th Edition 2006-2007 volume l . He is an Employee of Tillges Certified Orthotic & Prosthetic INC. since 2003 as an Orthotic Technician.
